How to Reset BMW CIC FSC Codes with Tool32

Tired of getting stuck with locked navigation or failed map updates on your BMW’s CIC (Car Information Computer) system? Resetting FSC (Freischaltcode) enabling codes can feel daunting if you’ve never dipped your toes into Ediabas software.

Whether you’re performing a retrofit, upgrading your head unit, or clearing persistent activation errors, using Tool32 is one of the cleanest ways to wipe the slate clean and restore factory functionality.

Here is a straightforward, real-world walkthrough on how to execute a CIC FSC reset in just a few minutes.

What You Need Before Starting

Before plugging in your K+DCAN or ENET cable, ensure you have the following ready:

  • Ediabas / EDIABAS Tool32 installed on your laptop.
  • A stable 12V power supply or battery tender hooked up to your BMW (voltage drops during coding can ruin your day).
  • Your target FSC code details (e.g., 00XX0001 or your specific feature code).
  • Basic familiarity with running ECU jobs in BMW factory software.

Step 1: Initialize the Base SWT Parameter

First, we need to load the primary SGBD file responsible for handling Freischaltcode routines and clear out any cached parameters.

  1. Open Tool32.
  2. Click on File > Load SGBD / ECU Group Object.
  3. Select and load: 00SWTKWP.prg
  4. In the jobs list on the left, scroll down and double-click Initialization.
  5. Locate the job named Set Swt_parameter.
  6. In the Argument box, enter: 99
  7. Press F5 (or double-click the job) to execute. Verify the job status displays OKAY in the output window.

Step 2: Configure Flash Parameters

Next, we switch over to the flash control file to adjust the asymmetric parameters.

  1. Click File > Load SGBD / ECU Group Object.
  2. Select and load: 10FLASH4.prg
  3. Execute the Initialization job once more.
  4. Select the job SET FLASH_PARAMETER.
  5. In the Arguments field, enter the exact string below:
0x63;2;18;1;Asymmetric
  1. Execute the job and ensure you get a successful OKAY result.

Step 3: Clear and Cancel the Locked FSC Code

Now that the flash environment and parameters are primed, return to the main FSC routine to cancel the stuck unlock code.

  1. Go back to File > Load SGBD / ECU Group Object and reload 00SWTKWP.prg.
  2. Run Initialization.
  3. Run Set_Swt_parameter with the argument 99.
  4. Locate the job Cancel_Unlock Code.
  5. In the Arguments box, enter your specific FSC code parameter (for example, 00XX0001).
  6. Execute the job.

Once Tool32 confirms execution with JOB_STATUS = OKAY, cycle your BMW’s ignition off for 30 seconds to allow the CIC module to reboot fully. Your FSC parameters will now be reset and ready for clean re-authorization!
