  5. Visual inspection of the harness
  6. Unplug connectors carefully. Look for green corrosion, bent pins, water marks, or melted plastic. Clean with contact cleaner and dielectric grease afterward.

  8. Some shops power the ECU on the bench with a power supply and check for life. Listen for relays clicking or look for activity on data lines.
