A CIC FSC reset with Tool32 is a specialist BMW coding procedure used during authorized repairs, retrofits, and head-unit work. When performed correctly, it can help prepare the CIC system for legitimate software configuration and approved FSC-related service operations.


Because Tool32 works directly with control-unit jobs and PRG files, every step must be handled carefully. Loading the wrong file, selecting the wrong job, or interrupting the process may cause communication problems with the CIC unit.

This guide covers the basic workflow using 00SWTKWP.prg and 10FLASH4.prg.


What You Need Before Starting

Before opening Tool32, prepare the following:

  • A compatible Windows laptop
  • Correct BMW diagnostic interface
  • Stable vehicle power supply or battery charger
  • Tool32 installed and working correctly
  • The correct PRG files for the vehicle and control unit
  • A verified diagnostic connection
  • Authorized FSC or service data

A stable power supply is especially important. Low voltage during coding can interrupt communication and may leave the head unit in an unstable state.


This procedure should only be used on vehicles you own or are authorized to repair. It does not create, recover, or bypass an FSC activation code.

Step 1: Load 00SWTKWP.prg

Open Tool32 and load the file:


00SWTKWP.prg

After the file loads, select:


JOB -> Initialization

Run the initialization job and wait for Tool32 to finish communicating with the control unit.

Next, select:


JOB -> Set Swt_parameter
Argument: 99

The spelling may appear slightly differently depending on the Tool32 version or PRG file. Carefully check the job name before running it.

The argument value should be entered exactly as required by the service procedure:


99

Do not disconnect the diagnostic interface while the job is running.


Step 2: Load 10FLASH4.prg

After completing the first stage, load:


10FLASH4.prg

Run the initialization job again:


JOB -> Initialization

Then select the flash-parameter job. Depending on the software version, it may be displayed in a format similar to:


JOB -> SET FLASH_PARAMETER

Use the required parameter string:


PArgument: 0x63;2;18;1;Asymmetric

Check every character before starting the job. Flash-related parameters are sensitive, and an incorrect value may prevent the operation from completing correctly.


Step 3: Load the SGBD File Again

After the flash-parameter stage, return to the file menu and load:


00SWTKWP.prg

Run:


JOB -> Initialization

Then select:


JOB -> Set_Swt_parameter
Argument: 99

The capitalization and underscore may vary slightly between Tool32 releases. The important point is to select the correct job from the loaded PRG file rather than manually guessing a similar command.


Step 4: Cancel the Unlock Code


JOB -> Cancel_Unlock
Code: 00XX0001

The unlock code shown above should only be used when it matches the official procedure and vehicle-specific service requirements. Never use random codes or codes taken from an unrelated vehicle.


Once the job has completed, close Tool32 properly and allow the vehicle electronics to enter sleep mode. Then perform a complete diagnostic scan and check for communication or control-unit faults.


Common CIC Tool32 Errors

Tool32 cannot connect

Check the diagnostic cable, ignition status, COM settings, and vehicle voltage. If another BMW diagnostic program is connected at the same time, close it before starting Tool32.


The PRG file does not match

A PRG file must match the control unit and software environment. Using an incorrect file can cause rejected jobs or unexpected behavior.



The job is rejected

Confirm the exact job name, argument format, and capitalization. Some Tool32 versions display job names differently, while others require a specific argument field.


The CIC unit becomes unresponsive

Do not immediately repeat the procedure. First, maintain stable battery voltage, cycle the ignition as directed by the service documentation, and scan the vehicle with approved diagnostic equipment.


Final Safety Checklist

Before starting:

  • Confirm the correct PRG files
  • Connect a stable battery charger
  • Save the original vehicle coding and diagnostic data
  • Close unnecessary diagnostic software
  • Verify the interface connection
  • Use only authorized service information

After finishing:

  • Close Tool32 normally
  • Let the vehicle enter sleep mode
  • Scan for fault codes
  • Test the CIC display, audio, navigation, and controls
  • Confirm that all authorized FSC functions operate correctly
