If you own a G-Model (G20, G30, G01, G05 and the whole family) with Driving Assistant Professional and the ID7 system, you already know how good the car feels. But there’s one annoying thing: in many countries the automatic speed limit adjust (ASLA) and the traffic light assistant (UCC – Urban Cruise Control) are simply switched off.
No more waiting. Today I’ll show you exactly how I unlocked both features on my own G-car so they work everywhere. These steps are clean, tested, and used by a lot of us in the tuning scene.
Important first: Always check and follow the traffic laws in your country. This coding removes the software country lock – it does not make illegal driving okay. Drive smart and stay safe.
Why You Want This Coding
ASLA reads the speed limit signs (or map data) and can gently adjust your set speed.
UCC watches traffic lights and can slow the car down or prepare to stop when the light turns red – super useful in cities.
When these two work together you get a much smoother drive. Less constant button pressing, more relaxed highway and city trips. On ID7 the graphics look sharp and the system feels premium once it’s fully unlocked.
What You Need Before Starting
- BMW G-Model with Driving Assistant Professional
- ID7 operating system
- Working coding setup (ENET cable or ICOM, E-Sys or similar tool, correct PSdZData)
- Basic comfort with module coding
- Battery charger connected – never code on low voltage

ASLA Coding – Remove the Country Restriction
We need to open the land activation bytes so ASLA works worldwide.
1. SAS3 module → 3000 FAS1
Parameter: C_SLA_aSLA_Land_aktiv
Change from “FB, DF, A7, C0”
to “FF, FF, FF, FF”
2. DSC_BRS2 module → 3040 BMW_BB_FAS1
Parameter: C_SLA_aSLA_Land_aktiv
Change from “FB, DF, A7, C0”
to “FF, FF, FF, FF”
That’s the main ASLA unlock. Write the coding, clear any faults, and do a short test drive. The system should now pick up speed limits and offer automatic adjustment no matter which country you are in.
UCC / Traffic Light Assistant Coding
Still in the same area:
SAS3 → 3000 FAS1
- C_SLA_UCC_Land_active → change “08, 00, 00, 00” to “FF, FF, FF, FF”
- C_SLA_aUCC_Land_aktiv → change “08, 00, 00, 00” to “FF, FF, FF, FF”
After writing these, the traffic light detection and Urban Cruise Control functions become available. On a good day with clear lights you will see the icons on the ID7 screen and feel the car gently prepare for the next light.
Nice Extra: Faster Digital Speedometer Update
The digital speedo by default refreshes every 0.5 seconds. You can make it snappier.
DKOMBI4 → 3000 Display_Configuration
DIGIT_SPEED_UPDATERATE → set to value_01 (100 ms)
(Default is usually 05 = 500 ms)
This small change makes the speed reading feel more alive, especially when ASLA is adjusting the set speed.
After Coding Checklist
- Write all changes carefully
- Clear fault codes in the modules you touched
- Ignition cycle (or short sleep)
- Test ASLA on a road with clear speed signs
- Test UCC in a city with traffic lights (daytime works best at first)
- Check that the driver assistance icons appear correctly on ID7
If something doesn’t activate right away, double-check the exact parameter names and byte values. A wrong byte can leave the feature half-working.
Real Talk from Someone Who Did It
I ran these exact changes on my G-series last year. Before coding, ASLA only worked in a few markets. After the FF FF FF FF bytes, it started reading French, German, Spanish and even some temporary construction signs without drama. The traffic light assistant is especially nice in stop-and-go city traffic – the car just feels smarter.
No weird side effects so far. Just make sure your cameras and radar are clean and calibrated. Dirty sensors = unhappy assistants.
