If your car is acting up—check engine light stuck on, rough idle, no start, or just plain weird power loss—you’re probably staring at the Engine Control Unit. That’s the ECU, the little black box that runs the whole show under the hood. It reads sensors, fires injectors, times sparks, and keeps everything humming.

How to Diagnose Like a Pro (Simple Steps First)

  1. Grab a good OBD2 scanner (not the $20 special). Read codes and freeze frame data.
  2. Check battery voltage—should be solid 12.6V off, 13.5-14.5V running.

DIY tip: If you’re comfortable with a soldering iron and multimeter, power and some driver repairs are doable. Memory and processors? Leave to specialists. A good rebuild often costs half a new OEM unit and keeps your immobilizer and coding intact.
